A brand new bitch

I feel that I have lost sight of what this blog was originally intended for. Somehow over the months some design based posts have crept in. Some environmental projects, news updates and random things have also made it live. Not to mention, the travel log posts that have invaded the purity of the janellorant during July and August. It was a necessary evil to be able to post the travel log somewhere you were all used to visiting so I could be sure you would find the pictures.

Now that the trip is over we are getting back to stright BITCHING. Posts will contain things that annoy me, seem illogical, irrational or illegitimate. Images may be of weird things I come across, people that are total assholes or Sensational NYers who think they are who they are not. I will reserve the right to interperate RANTING as the weeks and days go on, but rest assured that the posts will stick to the topic of "janellorant" (me bitching about shit).

To make things more manageable and keep me more scheduled I will post once a week on Friday. This way you can review during your weekend leasure time or have some nice new material in your RSS reader for Monday morning.

Stay tuned, I'm ready to get pissed off.

Thursday nightcaps

Its a funny thing, but almost expected, that NYC has a strip club at either end of the 59th st bridge. When you are on a bike this is more noticable because the entrance and exit to the pedestrian/bike lane is at the clubs on both ends. I have only started riding to work this week. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday both clubs were closed or open but with noone around. Come Thursday things changed a bit. Scores(on teh Manhattan side) was open with velvet rope and all. On the Queens side the club was not only open but packed with mercedes, late model lexus'a nd SUV's. It seems Thursday is the night for all the local boys to start having some quick fun on the way home from work before settling down with the wife and kids for the weekend.

Bastards.

Midtown tunnel. Not cool.

Yestarday, as I was riding my bike home from work, I heard the

screaming sirens and blarring horns of a 10 ton firetruck race through

my skull. I was half way over the Pulaski bridge parallel with the

entrance to the midtown tunnel. As I scanned the air to find the truck

the noise became even louder. Finally locating the truck on the LIE

below me, I realized it was going into the midtown tunnel. Full sirens,

horns, high speed, the whole 9 yard fire drill thing. This morning I

saw no news of any incidents in the tunnel. I read no reports of foul

play. I have a hard time believing the truck was responding to a call

on the other side of the tunnel. Doesn't Manhattan have their own fire departments?

We are back
